Podcasting

Did you know that, on average, I have more downloads per day for my podcast than I do daily unique visitors to this blog?
It sounds crazy, but it’s true.
Now, let’s take this even further…
The average time someone spends on this blog is 7 minutes and 19 seconds, which is relatively high.
Most of my podcast episodes are between 45 minutes to an hour in length – sometimes longer.
No other medium, including video, allows you to share your message and brand with your audience for this length of time.
This is why I’m such a heavy supporter of podcasting.
If you’re not podcasting, you’re missing out on huge opportunities to gain more exposure, drive more traffic to your website, stand out of the crowd in your niche and become the authority in your space.
And most importantly, you’re missing out on a chance to make a true connection with your target audience through the power of your voice, one that cannot be made through your written word.
A one-on-one, personal connections can be made between yourself and those who listen to your show. But guess what? You’re not just talking to one single person at a time, you’re speaking to several. Hundreds, thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of people who choose to listen to you – and you don’t even have to set up a conference to make it happen.
Podcasting used to be hard. I know, because on December 23rd, 2008 (in this post right here), I mentioned how I bought new equipment to start my own podcast.
Well, my first episode didn’t get published until July of 2010 – about a year and a half later.
Why did it take me so long?
Because I was scared. I was scared of putting myself out there, and I was also scared of the technology. Those two things held me back and let me delay what I only wish I started sooner.
I’m not here to pitch anything to you about podcasting, except that you should do it, and I’ve created a free resource to help you figure it out. No opt-ins or payments required. Just a link at the bottom of this post that is guaranteed to help you get your podcast up and running, and solve all of the confusion that exists with starting one up.
Starting a podcast has made me more confident as a person. It has improved my communication skills and I’ve since been able to muster up the courage to do a lot of public speaking. I’m even getting paid to do keynotes for large conferences and events now – something I would never have dreamed of doing before.
My podcast also helped me land a gig in hollywood, get approached by multiple publishing companies, and through the interviews I’ve done I’ve met some of the most amazing people in the world.
